I got hired into the local district and I’ll be working 10 minutes from home!
No more hour-drives & no more crazy charter madness {although I am grateful for how my previous school shaped me and made me into the teacher I am}! I am ready to welcome a real school site with a playground, air conditioning, and a loving environment/staff!
God is good 🙂
So my question to you {firstie-teachers} is…
What’s your advice for moving to first and working with ELLs?
Congratulations! I don't have any experience teaching 1st (I teach 2nd), but I have worked with classes filled with English Language Learners for the past ten years. I highly recommend using sentence frames in both speaking and writing. This helps them to practice using complete sentences with correct English grammar. Listening centers are also great for them to hear the correct pronunciation of English words. Good luck! The Traveling Teacher
Congratulations! I have a 45 minute commute each way. There are days that I ask God, "Why didn't you allow me to get the job down the street?!" but I know in my heart that I'm where He wanted me for now. I hope you have an amazing and awesome year!! ReadWriteSing
Congratulations! This is great news. Here in Mass. we are required to take a class to teach ELLs or we can't renew our certification. I love your picture!
YAY!! I am so excited for you! SIOP all the way! It will not only support your ELLs, but your EOs. I was an ESL specialist for years. Let me know if you have any questions.
Congratulations again on the new job! What a huge relief! And now you can relax and enjoy the rest of your summer! I can't wait to share resources/stalk your blog even more since we're both in 1st!
I agree with Marcy! SIOP is uh-maz-ing for ELL's! here is my favorite SIOP book! It outlines useful strategies!
