It’s hump day! I’m linking up with Jen at Teacher by the Beach for Wishlist Wednesday! On Wishlist Wednesday, we put one of our most wish-listed items on sale! This week I’m having a sale on my Time to the Minute Center. This is a must have for practicing the daunting skill of telling time to the minute.
Here’s what you need:
Here’s how it works:
There are two different clocks, one with a scaffolded minute tracker {as seen below} and one that is a normal clock face with just the hour numbers. This is so you can differentiate for students who still are struggling with the concept after it was taught. OR you can use the one seen below to help introduce the concept, get them practicing, and as they get better, give them the harder clock.
This activity can be done in whole group, small groups, centers, or partners. You just need a stack of the times. The students {or the teacher} pull a card to show the digital time. Then the students show it on their analog clock by using a whiteboard marker.
The answers are on the back of the digital time, that way, if it’s done in a center, they can quickly check their work.
This activity can also be done in reverse: show the students the analog clock times and they have to write the digital time on a whiteboard!
My students in 2nd grade LOVE this! It was the most played math center & they became little time-telling experts!
Not only is it on SALE through Friday evening {July 31 11:59pm} for 30% off, but you can WIN a copy here! Just leave a comment and I’ll pick a winner in 24 hours {giveaway ends July 30, 12:01am}! Make sure to check back in case tomorrow for the winner!
My students always need more practice with time. They are so used to digital clocks, even the clock in our classroom is digital. This would be fantastic practice for them
This center is awesome! I am a first year teacher teaching 2nd grade 🙂 This would be a great resource for me to have and would take one thing off of my never ending to-do list!! Thanks for the chance to win!
