Telling Time
We’ve been working on telling time to the minute. I had a formal observation on the day I had to exclusively teach time to the minute, so I had to pull out all the stops! The kids ended up loving it, getting it, and begging for it every day! Now that’s a success 🙂
First I printed out a big clock face  and gave one to each student. I showed them how to write minute times 1-59 on each tick mark around the clock.
After that, we slipped them into sheet protectors {the make-shift whiteboards}, grabbed dry-erase markers, and got to practicing!
After we had done quite a few times together, I gave each student pair a baggy of “times to the minute” for a little game. One student would pull out a digital time, read it, and they’d both draw the time. I had them check each other’s work by seeing if their answers matched.
I’ve made some upgrades, making the times clearer and larger, with analog clocks on one side and digital clocks on the other. Click any of the pictures to see it in my store!
