So…moving down to 1st means I likely won’t have such great readers as my 2nd graders 😉 My biggest worry {you mean I can’t just say, sit and read quietly while I clean this thing up real fast!?!…life ruined..}! I’ve been asking around and most people are talking about sight words, sight words, SIGHT WORDS!
Maria made pe-typed Dolche List sight words for each grade!
All I had to do was print them on labels {who else is into the label craze!?}, makes life so easy!
Instead of cardstock, I used bright colored index cards that I found at Office Max for $2.
Peel & stick!
I color-coded 4 different levels for my firsties {pre primer, primer, 1st, & 2nd}.
I decided to put the sight word lists on binder rings so that my kiddies can study them in their free time centers!
I will introduce 5 new sight words each week, so these will also be listed on my Word Wall {that will be another Monday Made It once I get back into my classroom}.
I love love love these & can’t wait for my kiddos get their hands on them!
Speaking of LABEL CRAZE:
I organize my files by standard, so with my grade change, I had to switch my files! You can read about my labels HERE from last week’s Monday Made It! Or you can just click the picture to download them for free if you want em right this very instant 🙂 My blog post from last week has more than just 1st grade standards!

GIVEAWAY:
My sweet friend Rebecca, from Darlin’ Little Learners, made this AMAZING product and is allowing me to give it away to one of my readers!
I plan to use this during centers as one of the ways to interact with our Word Wall, just as practice when needed, or as a quick assessment {so many options from one little product}.
Each page has 4 sight words that students have to find, highlight, and write on the line! What kiddo doesn’t love a highlighter!?
For a paper/ink saver, you can print them 4 to a page, front to back & your kiddos have 8 to work on!
Or you can cut them up and you’ve got a center!
You could even put em into page protectors to use again!
If you’d like to win a copy, leave a comment below and don’t forget your email 🙂
The winner will be picked tomorrow morning by Rebecca herself!
Good luck!
Winner has been chosen and emailed!

Wow! What a helpful post! I am also moving from second grade to first and really wanted to focus more on sight words and the word wall. I love your ideas! I also love the highlight and go pack because then the kids have more interaction with the word wall which makes it so much more meaningful! Thank you! jhmondoro@gmail.com
I am also going to have "firsties" in my class next year. I love the highlighter idea, especially when you can get 8 activities on a page! kelly.pulham@silomail.com
I love the neon index cards! I'm totally stealing that idea of just sticking on the labels and then I'm putting those on my word wall… I mean, how fun will the word wall look?!
