The first day of school is a time the students get “all the feels”– excited, scared, sad…the list goes on. I created a first day of school activity called First Day Feels which helps them and you identify how they are feeling and realizing, they aren’t alone.
Each student can fill out a sheet of paper about the first day of school. There are a few different styles of writing paper included. All different styles of lines for different grade-level needs. The titles also range from kinder to 5th grade.
There’s also a page for the students to graph each others’ responses on a pictograph.
This is available in a digital format as well. Students can drag and drop their “feeling” onto a pictograph on a shared Google Slide. The teacher can also fill out the pictograph and have the students copy it down onto their paper version. It also includes pages students can type onto if you’d rather use the digital version instead of paper (especially if you’re doing distance learning). Here’s a video of what’s available in the digital portion.
I also have it bundled with my Last Day Feels, if you’d like to compare their first day writing to their last day writing (I love doing this in the younger grades K & 1 to see the jumps they made in the year).
