Father’s Day Activity
Father’s Day always falls right around the end of the school year, and I like to make sure my students do something to celebrate the special dads and men in their lives before we leave for summer break. Check out this post to see how we read Mr. Seahorse and incorporate writing with an adorable, easy gift.
End of Year Read Alouds
One of my favorite things to do with my students at the end of the year is enjoy read alouds together. With summer break right around the corner, students are usually excited and wiggly and I’ve found reading a story to them always settles them (for a few minutes 😉 You can find a list here of some of my favorite read alouds to enjoy with students at the end of the school year.
End of Year Celebrations
The best way to celebrate the end of the school year is to celebrate the most important little people in it- the students! Here is a special way to spend the last stretch of the school year, student posters. Read more about how we implement them in the class.
These student posters are available digitally too (read more about that here) and can be found in my TpT shop.
End of the Year Review
Wrapping up the end of the year can be an academic review too! These “dictionaries” are an easy way to recall all of your year’s learning AND buy you some time ;).
As a class we brainstorm together a list of academic vocabulary we’ve learned throughout the year (A to Z). We even practice using our GLOSSARIES!
Then I let the students pick one were for each letter. They then start to create their personal dictionaries-with definitions of the word and examples/pictures.
This is ready to go for print or digital, your choice! Headings included for grades and subjects. This is a great way to wrap up the year with an academic keepsake. Find it in my TpT Shop!
