My little firsties have been ROCKIN’ number bonds these past few weeks & we’re still not done! Our first math unit is all about making numbers in different ways and adding fluently.
I created this pack to give my students more practice with number bonds, decomposing numbers, and making numbers in a fun way!

One of our favorite activities is “ZOOM”! We get to get a little silly and shake some red/yellow disks! This activity is great for reinforcing ways to decompose or ways to make a specific number.
{here my little is working on his 6’s}
Another SUPER fun activity in the pack is “Roll a Bond”. I use this more as a review after we’ve learn to “make” or “decompose” our numbers through 10. I bought a ton of these jumbo foam dice at The Dollar Tree. So quiet 🙂 I usually have them play in groups or pairs for accountability. They roll the two dice, write those two numbers in the “parts” of the number bond, add them together to get the “whole”, and create a “fact family” or whatever common core calls it now 😉
There are also a few other items in the pack…
“RACES”
These are our quick practices. Sometimes you just need to know the parts that make up the whole, so these are perfect for reviewing a number and checking for automaticity.
“LAPS”
These are fun cut and pastes for making a specific number. Students have to add and recognize which combination of numbers adds up to the number listed and which combos don’t.
“OVERDRIVE”
Overdrive are the word problems.
I also put in a template so the students could make their own number bonds.
We like to use them to make numbers & then eat them 😉
I teach decomposing numbers that way or with 2 different colored counters on a 10 frame and/or a long straight line. You could also use 2 different colored post its. Also, the link to your instagram page doesn't work for the giveaway. It gives an error message. Thanks for the opportunity!
