All Are Welcome
Set the tone of your classroom by establishing that ALL ARE WELCOME! This book is perfect for introducing your students to the safe space of your classroom. Check it out here.
Marcy’s Having All the Feels
Written by a counselor, this is a social emotional learning book you need in your classroom. Marcy only wants to be happy & when all her other feelings (worry, anger, etc) start popping up, she gets frustrated. She tries to hide all her other feelings, but finds out…Well I won’t spoil it, but it’s good & we find out we need all our feelings! Great for starting those social emotional conversations.
This is also a great book to lead into this quick ALL THE FEELS activity for the first days of school. Read more here.
Raj’s Rule
Raj’s only rule? Don’t use the restroom at school. This book is perfect for new kinders and back to school. A fun story about a boy who doesn’t enjoy school bc he won’t use the restroom, he’s too busy *holding it*…check it out here!
Germs & Soap
This book is so good for explaining HOW & WHY to wash your hands. A hilarious story about germs who get distracted by soap bubbles so they fall down the drain.
A Teacher’s Top Secret
A fun book that shows students they are an important part of their classroom community, hand picked by their teacher. You can get a free book companion by the author with this book too!
A Letter from Your Teacher
A sweet book to read at the beginning of the year from the teacher. It’s a letter to the students to let them know the teacher isn’t just there for academic support but to cheer them on and provide a safe and caring environment.
Be You
I love everything Peter Reynolds (“Happy Dreamer”, “Say Something”, “The Dot”…). In this book he reminds us how to be unique, by being you! Positive & up-lifting. Great for any classroom. Check it out here.
Speak Up
One voice can make a difference. This book encourages kids to speak up and come together when they see something that isn’t right. Check it out here!
Rulers of the Playground
Two little ones decide they want to be king and queen of the classroom. They decide to divide up the playground so they can each rule in their own space, but as we know, that never works out. Grab the book to see how they solve their problem.
Alma
What’s in a name? Little Alma learns the meaning behind her name in this sweet story of where she came from and who she can become!
Ruby Finds a Worry
This book is a perfect portrayal of how worries grow from something small to something overwhelming. In this story Ruby learns that she’s not the only one with worries & it turns out, sharing/talking about your worries with someone really helps! A great classroom addition for social emotional learning.
I’m Gonna Push Through
This book shares how we need to learn an attitude of pushing through. The author originally used this as a class affirmation and now it’s for us to use in this amazing book!
