Noise {Sound Unit}
We just ended our Sound Unit with a BANG!
Studying sound was fun {and sometimes too loud}! Here are some of the activities we did to reinforce the idea of pitch, loudness, and sound in general.
STRAWS
{we blew through different size straws to hear the different pitches, learning that the longer the straw, the lower the pitch}

GLASS BOTTLES
{we filled glass bottles with different amounts of water, we hit it with a metal spoon to hear the different pitches, learning that the more water in the glass, the lower the pitch}
SOUND CENTERS
To culminate our time studying sound, I came across these amazingly easy Sound Centers that reinforced the idea that vibrations create sounds we hear. The Sound Unit is from Teachery Tidbits {click HERE for the link to her Sound Centers}.

Station 1– tapping a rice-covered drum with a pencil
Station 2– hanging a wire hanger from string in your ears and tapping lightly on the hanger
Station 3–shake the eggs and guess what’s inside {i faked them out with cotton balls in one, they all thought there was nothing inside ;)}
Station 4–{I modified this one} blow down through the straw
Here is what our “quick journal” looked like–
5 days left of school 🙂
