Picture Book Travels: Our California

This week, I’m taking over California! Last week I posted about a cute Irish book and got to share about my personal travels to the “Mother Land”.
I’m a So. Cal resident {yes lucky me sunshine all the time ;)}, but have truly loved exploring every nook and cranny this AMAZING state has to offer!
Here is a bit of a pride book for us Californians 🙂
{but would also be an excellent help for any state research projects, 5th graders??}
I recently snagged this beauty at the Scholastic Warehouse Sale earlier in June.
I must state first that the colors and illustrations in this book are just gorgeous!
{and it rhymes!!}

Now, let me take you on a little tour of this book and California…
For my then boyfriend’s birthday {now hubby}, we took a trip up the coast to San Francisco where the seafood is endless and the views are amazing.

{FULL HOUSE?!}
————-
Moving right along, for this year’s birthday we headed to Monterey, where the seals are large and the waters are beautiful.

{seriously, have you visited these Elephant Seals??}
—————–
Now let’s head down south to where some of my favorite girls are at {Splash into 2nd, Kristen from Easy Teaching Tools, Molly from Lessons with Laughter & Sandy from Soaring through Second}
Balboa Park is where it’s AT! It’s gorgeous and the zoo is in there too 🙂

Let’s finish off in my “hometown”. Now I don’t LIVE in LA, but I’m in LA county, so let’s just call it home 😉
{the LACMA, famous for it’s night light display}
——————-
In the back of the book it has TONS of information about each city and the state itself!
Go grab your copy here!
Or just come by for a visit 🙂
I’m linking up again with Courtney from Ramona Recommends for her Traveling Picture Book Linky!
I’m also linking up with Deanna Jump from Mrs. Jump’s Class for her Book Talk Tuesday!
