Happy FALL my friends! I am linking up with some of my sweet blogging friends to #fallintogreatresources {search this hashtag on TpT and you’ll pull up a TON of great fall resources just for you}!
I am a children’s picture book LOVER!
Here are two of my most favorite FALL books!
The Ugly Pumpkin {affiliate link} is about a little odd looking pumpkin who was passed up during Halloween, walking into November all alone. But he learns something new about himself that changes everything! This is the perfect book to move from Halloween to Thanksgiving!
You can check out activities for The Ugly Pumpkin HERE.
Click, Clack, Boo {affiliate link} is another favorite in my class. Just your average silly shenanigans from Duck and the gang! Just some barn animals who want to have a party…

I got to carve a pumpkin with my class this past week! It was a BLAST! In my six years of teaching, I had never done this with them before! Why?? Well, let’s be honest, I was nervous about the mess.
Here are some pumpkin carving tips:
* latex gloves for easy clean up
* those cheap plastic tools, they actually work like a charm
* garbage bags for easy clean up
* keep baby wipes on hand
I cannot believe how simple it actually was to carve this pumpkin {I did take 2 days to do it, one day for the gutting, the next for the carving}!
{enter baby wipes here}
Grab some caution tape {which is EVERY WHERE during the “Halloween Season”}, put your carved pumpkin outside and watch it rot! Extend that science lesson 😉
Happy cutting 🙂
Lauren from A Teachable Teacher has a GREAT pumpkin carving pack that assisted us during all our carving!
She’s included so many fantastic things in the pack, like this emergent reader on How to Carve a Pumpkin {and a “How to” writing}!
{a face planning page}
{seed tasting survey}
We had a blast using Lauren’s pack!

We have also been enjoying my Fall Emergent Readers! We are just beginning to crack the code to reading here in my classroom. These little readers are so fun for us to celebrate fall!
There are 7 different themes for the books.
Easy to read, repetitive text with sight words.
There’s a quick, scaffolded writing piece at the end!
If you want to snag the pack, click HERE.

This looks like so much fun! I can't wait to give it a go, and you may have even convinced me to try and "watch it rot!" It's not in my comfort zone, but what an amazing learning opportunity!

I have been hesitant to carve a pumpkin as well, but we are beginning procedural text and this would be an amazing activity for them! What great ideas! 🙂
